Inadine Dressing
INADINE® PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressing consists of a low adherent knitted viscose fabric
impregnated with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) base containing 10% Povidone Iodine; equivalent
to 1.0% available iodine.
Iodine is a highly effective topical antimicrobial that has been used clinically in the treatment of
wounds for more than 170 years. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity with efficacy
against bacteria, microbacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses.
How does it work?
The Povidone Iodine molecule has a broad spectrum antimicrobial action and has been proven
to be effective against MRSA.
INADINE minimises adherence to the wound bed, therefore reducing the risk of damage to the
granulation tissue at dressing removal, and in clinical practice has been shown to reduce pain
for patients.
Directions
Gently clean and dry the wound and surrounding skin. Remove first backing paper. Peel off the dressing from the remaining backing paper and apply directly to the wound. Secure with a secondary dressing of choice. When Inadine dressing turns white this indicates loss of antiseptic efficacy and therefore the dress should be changed.Removal of Inadine may be helped by gentle stretching of the dressing at diagonally opposite corners.
Advice
Inadine dressings should not be used:1.Where there is a known iodine hypersensitivity (allergy)2.Before and after the use of radio0iodine (until permanent healing)3.If you are being treated for kidney problems4.In pregnant and breast feeding women5.In cases of Duhring’s herpetiform dermantitis (a specific, rare skin disease)
Do not use if package is damaged. Do not reuse. Dot not resterilize.
